China Academy of Safety Science and Technology(CASST)successfully completed 34th Antarctic expeditio

Apr. 21st, 2018, China's research icebreaker Xuelong berthing at a dock in Shanghai, east China. Dr. Hongnan Qin of China Academy of Safety Science and Technology (CASST) completed the mission in 34th Antarctic expedition and returned to Shanghai. The expedition began on Nov. 8th, 2017 and covered a voyage of 38,000 nautical miles in the 165 days expedition.

During the mission, as the safety supervisor, Dr Hongnan Qin is primarily responsible for work safety investigation and management of the voyage, marine survey, research of atmosphere, ice shelf and biology, and the preparation for construction of the China’s fifth research station, etc. 

 

 

This is the 3rd time that CASST sent professional researcher to participate in the work of the Antarctic expedition after the China's 32nd Antarctic Scientific Expedition and China's 33rd Antarctic Scientific Expedition in 2015 and 2016. As a comprehensive public nonprofit scientific research institution of work safety, CASST will keep intensifying scientific and technological support for China's polar research and expedition.
